Kensie & Taylor were on their way to Bloemfontein to visit a friend from South Africa, who they met when they were here to do humanitarian work a few years ago. They found out he had cancer and wanted to visit him again. Bloemfontein is about 200 miles from Johannesburg and they arranged their flight to come see us. Their flight from Atlanta was delayed because of weather and so their stay was cut short. Instead of arriving Saturday evening, they didn't get here until Sunday p.m.

We then stopped at Chameleon Village, which is a big souvenir market. They didn't see anything they wanted to buy but we enjoyed some lunch at one of the restaurants.
Our next stop was Lesedi Village.
LESEDI VILLAGE |
At Lesedi Village we learned about the history of South Africa. We had a tour of the villages of different tribes, learning about their cultures.
WE SAW A LOT OF AFRICAN DANCING |
SOME WARRIORS FIGHTING |
Monday evening we took them to a favorite restaurant of ours at Mandela Square. We had a wonderful dinner at "Pigalle".
On Tuesday morning we went on the Red Bus Tour. It is a good way to see the city of Johannesburg and learn some of the history.
A BEAUTIFUL DAY IN JOBURG
Afterwards we went to the Apartheid Museum. We only had a couple of hours there but Kensie and Taylor saw a lot of displays and videos and learned a lot about the Apartheid era here.
APARTHEID MUSEUM |
For lunch we went to 'Mikes', which is close to the office. Afterwards, we stopped at the office for a short visit. They were able to meet Phillip, our manager, and also Sharon Eubank, who was visiting from Salt Lake. Sharon is over all the humanitarian work for the Church.
Before we knew it, it was time to take them to the airport. It was a short visit, but a wonderful one and we're so grateful they would interrupt their trip to come see us.
